Defense



Defense is the strong, iron-like backbone of the squad system. You are responsible for maintaining control of your team's side of the map, acquiring all of the bosses on your side, and are primarily responsible for the neutral bosses. On top of this, you will be providing constant support to the other squads as they push the enemy back, both through fire support as well as making play calls when you see an opening in the enemies defense. Defense is not for the weak, or those who do not want to die. On Defense you must be able to win 1v1s easily to protect your armory from enemies that break through your teams front line. If you find Defense boring, you're not doing it right. There is always something to do. Get bosses, provide support, and prevent the enemy from taking your armory. MAGENTA!

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
  • Control of our side of the map.
  • Keep our armory safe and get all our bosses/neutral bosses when possible.
  • Serve as game managers for the other squads.

ROLES:
  1. Sentry - Posts up in our Armory/garage early, pushes to outer-mid late game. Always stays in sight of armory waypoint. Assist Boss Slayer with bosses near our armory.
  2. Boss Slayer - Prioritizes bosses on our side of map, assists with neutral bosses where possible. Procedures vary by map
  3. Ranger - Plays rear containment and/or assists boss slayer with bosses far from our armory when possible. Is first responder to Sentry’s call for help at home.

Raid on Apex-7



Out of Pelicans:

All three defense players will move left on the beach and clear the AI. Ranger and Sentry should grab storm rifles and Boss Slayer should grab a plasma pistol off of the corpses. After that, continue on the left path to the armory. Once there, the Sentry and Ranger will move to the top of the armory. (1) Boss slayer should bring the plasma pistol and a pistol to the bottom of armory and begin killing the elites. (2) The Backup Floater will be present and will push to watch the flank (Pride Rock on Blue Team, tunnel on Red Team). If no resistance is present then Sentry and Ranger should help Boss Slayer clear the armory.

After Armory is Captured:

Sentry: Stay near our Armory for the duration of the match. The Armory icon should be on their screen the whole time unless a specific play is called.

If our Armory is being pushed, it is the Sentry’s responsibility to figure out where they are coming from and call it out to the Backup hog so that they can stop the pushes before they get close. If you are Red team the enemy will most likely push from chasm, but they are coming from behind Ridge Bridge or their Nest and Backup Hog can patrol there to stop them. If you are Blue team the enemy will most likely push from the beach where Rok and Haestro spawn. Backup Hog needs to know they are pushing from there so they can cut them off early. This allows Boss Slayer to do their job without needing to sit at the armory to fight off pushes. The pushes need to be stopped before they get to the armory. Sentry should help with any bosses that spawn near the armory such as the Banshees or Ghost.

Ranger: Ranger should move up to Ridge Bridge if you are Red Ranger(red team). From here you can watch the enemy Nest and back entrance to the chasm. At 2:00 you should help out with the Zealot Assassin. After this point you should keep an eye on the area around Ridge Bridge. (1) Blue Ranger should play from around your Nest to control the Ridge Bridge area. Blue Ranger can also help out with the Zealot Assassin in the cave next to Ridge Bridge at 2:00. Ranger is like an extension of Containment and should play the middle of the map while staying close enough to help keep your armory safe. Ranger should help out Boss Slayer with far away bosses when possible while Sentry keeps control of your armory.

Boss Slayer: Refer to the Boss Guide for specifics.

Boss Slayer should go to the Sword Elites (Red Side Zealots) and acquire a sword with Backup 3 (2) and potentially Ranger/Assassin to then take out the hunters to secure Spire. Boss Slayer should hand off the hunters to another player to ensure that they acquire a ghost to splatter the Elite Ultras at 4:00 to maximize early boss points. Afterwards, Boss Slayer should begin setting up for each boss about 30 seconds before it spawns. Boss Slayer should also coordinate other squads going into bosses to make sure we stay on top of objectives.

If the push for the enemy armory and Spire fails Defense must lock down your armory so the other squads can push for the bases and bosses. Defense should still be getting the bosses around your armory. Transition to the normal positions as the other squads gain map control.

If your team has control of Spire and not the enemy armory, coordinate with Assault and Backup to get the neutral bosses and keep pushes away from your armory.

If you capture the enemy armory, but lose your own to a large push. Defense should spawn at the Armory you do have(the “enemy” armory). Treat that armory as your own until a call is made for you to switch or your normal armory is capped.


Escape from A.R.C.



Out of Home Base:

After the home base is cleared Defense should go for the Elite boss at the orange tower. After this go straight to your armory and finish clearing and capping it. Assault should have begun the clear or possibly have finished it. Kill any remaining AI and get the cap as quickly as you can. After capping proceed to the roles below.

Sentry: If your team is capturing or contesting the enemy armory head to Garage and start clearing the AI. If your team's push for the enemy armory fails. Set up on your rock and put as many shots on enemies running to Garage as you can. (1) Let Ranger worry about enemies running through shed unless they call for your help. If your team captures all three bases set up on the enemy armory third floor. (2) Do not push too far forward until your team has the enemy locked down. Check on your armory as much as possible, don’t let it get capped by one invis guy who snuck through etc.

Ranger: Begin clearing Garage unless your team's push for the enemy armory fails. If it does, position yourself around your rock and stop enemies running towards your armory through shed. (1) Put shots on enemies running to Garage when possible, but concentrate on stopping pushes for your armory. Don’t be afraid to get up close to stop the enemies as they exit their armory. Just don’t let them get past you. Listen for callouts from Sentry for help on top of the rocks. Make callouts for Backup if any large pushes come towards your armory around the rocks. If your team captures all three bases, defend the enemy armory while your team pushes. (2) If the enemy is locked down, feel free to help the core push.

Boss Slayer: Get all the bosses on your side and attempt to steal enemy bosses near the back of the map behind Garage. Help with all neutral bosses. In between bosses help Ranger and Sentry put shots on enemies running for Garage or your armory. After the 2:00 boss help clear Garage if your team is still pushing for the enemy armory or has it captured. See Boss Guide for list of bosses, their times, and effective tactics.

If your team loses the push for the enemy armory and Garage defend your armory at all costs. Boss Slayer should sneak out and steal as many bosses as possible.

If your team loses all three bases Defense defends the Core while everyone else tries to break through the enemy lines for a base capture. Spawn at any captured bases and help hold them.

Out of Home Base:
Spoiler: show
Defense should begin clearing your armory. Watch the tunnel for any early pushes by the enemy team. If one member of Defense gets Splinter Grenades they should head to Fortress to use them on Loco. After they die or get Loco, they should return to their normal duties.

Sentry: Position in or around our stargate. It gives a great vantage point to watch tunnel (1), walkway near big door (2) and low road from Fortress. Calling out if someone slips through any of those spots. Assisting with nearby bosses such as the Knight Luminary and Captain Wamik. Once all three bases are captured push forward and watch both of the enemies doors to make sure no one slips out. Tunnel should be watched by Sentry, don’t go past the stairs just inside tunnel. (3) Keep the icon for your armory on your screen at all times. Ghost is a useful vehicle for patrolling our side. Upgrade to Banshee.

Ranger: Position along walkway(cliffside) to assist Containment with taking and holding the Fortress. Can push all the way to the enemy side of the big door, but should fall back frequently to check on your side. (1) Listen for callouts from Sentry and Boss Slayer. Make sure to help Boss Slayer with all cliffside bosses.

Boss Slayer: Swap between tunnel side and cliffside depending on where the enemy is pushing from between bosses. Responsible for all of your teams bosses and the neutral bosses. Coordinate with Sentry and Ranger for help with tougher bosses. See the Boss Guide for a list of bosses, their times, and effective tactics.

If your team fails to get Fortress, Sentry should be just inside your end of tunnel keeping the team informed of any pushes from there. Ranger should be helping Containment keep the enemy pushed back inside Fortress while slowly advancing to capture it. (1) Boss Slayer must kill your teams bosses as quickly as possible. Do not let the enemy push up and steal bosses.

If you team losses all bases, Defense should set up in and around core room to defend it while every other squad pushes for a base capture. The Core is Defense’s final responsibility on all maps. If a new base is captured Defense should spawn there and hold it as soon as possible.


Battle of Noctus



Out of Home Base:

Defense should grab plasma pistols and needlers to quickly kill the Elite Prime. Then head straight to the left Garage looking for any enemies pushing to the same Garage. Two Defense members should hop up the boxes to the Garage balcony and begin clearing the second floor, the third Defense player should clear the first floor. After capturing the Garage proceed to the roles below.

Sentry: Set up on the spiral staircase and overpass facing the enemy homebase. (1) Prevent any enemies from pushing to your Garage. Keep an eye out for any pushes from behind and help out with bosses. If your team captures all three bases, push up while keeping an eye out for any vehicles escaping towards your bases.

Ranger: Set up on the overpass facing the enemy base and help the Boss Slayer take the enemies Hydra Soldier at 2:00. (2) Help Containment put shots on enemies jumping to their landing from their homebase. Assist Boss Slayer with bosses near the Monument. Put shots on enemies from their landing if your team captures all three bases. Chase down any vehicles that break through.

Boss Slayer: Go for the enemy Hydra Soldier at 2:00. Then proceed to capture all the bosses around your Garage, helping hold your Garage in between. Ghosts are very effective against many of the bosses and allow you to patrol around your Garage for any enemy pushes. Railguns are effective for stealing the Legendary bosses around the Monument. See the Boss Guide for a list of bosses, their times, and effective tactics.

If your team loses Monument, set up to defend against pushes for you Garage. Help keep your teams landing safe so Containment can get set up to push for Monument. Boss Slayer should secure your bosses as quickly as possible and spawn weapons to steal the Legendary bosses.

If your team loses all three bases, Defense defends the core. Spawn at any captured bases and hold them.
