Assault

Assault is the tip of the spear. We fight the enemy in at their objective undermining their setup, split the focus between the objective they want and the objective they have.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
  • Steal the enemy's bosses and bases.
  • Maintain pressure on the enemy's side of the map.
  • Create additional problems for the enemy to solve.

ROLES:
  1. Bodyguard - Power slays to anchor objective pushes
  2. Assassin - Coordinates the boss steal on the enemy side, or takes down major enemy threat.
  3. Base Clearer - Coordinates the base push, calls the interior setup.

Assault should always coordinate their pushes with the other squads to get appropriate assistance. Additionally, make sure Defense knows which bosses they should secure and which ones Assault will secure.

Raid on Apex-7

INITIAL GOAL: Clear the right side of the beach, and then push the enemy Armoury as fast as possible.

Red Team

Ideal start:
Spoiler: show
Out of Pelicans: Assassin takes left mongoose and Base Clearer takes right mongoose (1) and both drive them in a wide arc to the right side of the home spawn (Beware of stickies!). Bodyguard clears right side of enemies with Containment and picks up a Storm Rifle (used for clearing the armoury).

(1)

Once enemies are cleared Bodyguard Assault gets on one mongoose and Containment (Anchor BR) gets on the other. Both mongooses drive down the beach towards the enemy armory. Get off the goose just before Big Rock. Climb the Rock and then boost (and possibly ground pound) onto the top of the enemy armory. (2)

(2)
Survive on the top of their armory, and clear all enemies to capture the base. (3) Use grenades and storm rifle+pistol teamshot to take out enemies. At the very least, focus on surviving and delaying capture. If you win the initial battle, the other two Containment players should arrive to reinforce your position.

(3)

Upon Success: Assassin and Bodyguard should move to the Blue Caves (Passage) and kill the Zealot, and then move to Spire to kill the hunters. Base Clearer should move under the Nest in case the others get pushed and help control the enemies coming out of Nest attempting to get to Spire.

After Spire cap: Attempt to push for the enemy core either through their Nest by jumping into it, or pushing from the East Armory with Wraith support.

If the Armory assault fails:
Spoiler: show
All push through/around the Chasm to kill the Blue Caves Zealot Assassin. Bodyguard watch enemies coming from the Nest or their Armory to the Spire. After killing the Zealot, use the Storm Rifles and/or Swords to push toward the enemy armory from under the Nest (in the cave pathway). Put shots on enemies coming off the lift or walking on the ground along the way, and then get into their armory to cause problems. This will keep the enemy team distracted and enable Defense and Containment to capture the Spire.

If enemy holds their Armory and Spire:
Spoiler: show
Provide constant pressure on the enemy to relieve pressure on your Armory. Coordinate with Defense to care for bosses.

Pushing Through Chasm: Spawn at your armory. Push through the Chasm to get under the enemy Nest. Avoid notice. Attempt to take the Armory or Spire depending on enemy numbers at either (Armory is usually easier to take).

Pushing from Beach: If the enemy team is controlling their Nest and watching the flank. Spawn vehicles at home and push together around the beach with Backup help.

Blue Team:

Ideal Start:

Get off the goose just before the turn to their armory. Jump onto the top of their Armory and clear Spartans pushing the top. (2)

(2) Image of Spartans transitioning to the enemy Armory

Survive on the top of their armory, and clear all enemies to capture the base. (3) Use grenades and storm rifle+pistol teamshot to take out enemies. At the very least, focus on surviving and delaying capture. If you win the initial battle, the other two Containment players should arrive to reinforce your position.

If capping their Armory fails:
Spoiler: show
Spawn at our armory and push under our Nest to kill the Zealot in the Blue Caves. Use their weapons to push into the Chasm and push the enemy Armory. Create an additional problem for them while the other squads take the Spire.

If the enemy controls their Armory and Spire:
Spoiler: show
Use the similar plan as before through the Chasm, or use vehicles to flank around the beach to attack their armory from behind.

Additionally, vehicles can drive through the Chasm to get behind the enemy armory.

If we hold Spire but not their Armory:
Spoiler: show
Continue to push their armory through the Chasm.

March on Stormbreak

INITIAL GOAL: Push the bottom of Fortress to secure Lochagos.

Start:
Spoiler: show
Attempt to gain splinter grenades from soldiers in the Fortress or our Armory. Whether you get some or not, pick up a suppressor for your AR and push into Fortress. Go through the small door up high if you don't have splinter grenades to kill those soldiers for theirs.

Kill any Spartans running for Lochagos, then kill crawlers, and then kill the Watcher over Lochagos. Throw splinter grenades on the boss and then finish his weak points with Suppressor.

Taking Fortress:
Spoiler: show
Base Clearer and Bodyguard should kill all remaining AI in the back of Fortress and then watch the low road and bottom REQ station to neutralize any Spartans or vehicles trying to capture the Fortress.

Assassin should die/spawn a scout hog around the 1:30 mark to attempt to steal the enemy's Elite Boss at the crane, denying them the points and potentially the fuel rod.

When respawning, head into the Fortress through the top and then drop down to watch that pathway - Containment may need help. Make sure to use weapons like Shotguns or Overshields early to win those battles.

Pushing their Armory from Fortress.
Spoiler: show
Base Clearer and Assassin will be pushing along the Dirt Road to get to the enemy Batteries, while Bodyguard remains on the Dirt Road to watch their flank.

What this looks like:
Insert Image here

The Base Clearer and Assassin will be able to shut down enemies coming out of their armory and trying to push containment off of the Walkway and Stargate. (1)

The Bodyguard will be able to see enemies trying to push the other Assault players out of the batteries and put shots into them as they come from their armory. (2)
(1)
(2)

When there's an opening, Base Clearer and Assassin will move into the enemy Armory by jumping into the balcony or through the side door. Bodyguard will move over to Batteries to continue to cover, and then move into Armory as well when there's an opening. Plasma casters and Rockets are recommended for clearing as they have limited ammo that can then be turned against your team.

Core Pushes:
Spoiler: show
Push with Containment over the High Bridge, because it is a lot more infantry friendly.
Image

Assassin should spawn rockets/fuel rod to destroy the core. Base Clearer should spawn a plasma caster or explosive to clear the core room. Bodyguard should spawn a Wraith to help clear the doorway and stairs, creating an opening.

This video is on Noctus, but the principles are the same.

When the enemy holds their Armory and Fortress:
Spoiler: show
Push through the tunnel and follow the previous plan, this time with the Warthog's help, to take the enemy armory. Regardless of success or failure, it is important to keep the enemy team from utilizing the tunnel as a safe means of transition.

Pushing Fortress:
Spoiler: show
Pressure the small door of the Fortress with Containment moving along the Walkway and get into the top and back areas of the Fortress to kill AI and then control the low approaches as in the early game.

Escape from A.R.C.

INITIAL GOAL: Clear some of the AI in our armory, and then push their Armory.

Start:
Spoiler: show
Jump into the top of our Armory with Bolt Shots or suppressors to deal with the AI. Headshot crawlers and fire enough Bolt Shots/Suppressor into the Soldiers until their heads glow, and then headshot them with a pistol. Listen for Containment to call for help, either against rushers or to start the rush.

Push from underneath or over the rocks to attack the enemy armory. Base Clearer head to the small door and nade people on the bottom floor for easy cleanup by others. (1) Bodyguard and Assassin hop on top of the Armory to help Containment. (2)

(1)
(2)

The Armory assault may last for a few spawn cycles depending on how well the battle goes for your team.

Assassin should spawn a Scout Hog around the 1:25 mark to attempt to steal the enemy Ranger Commander.

Taking Garage:
Spoiler: show
Base Clearer should consider spawning a Ghost to splatter the soldiers and crawlers inside of the Garage. (1) Otherwise, Bodyguard and Base Clearer should use promethean weaponry and headshots to clear the AI. Expect help from Defense and Floater to clear the Garage.

Base Clearer can give the Ghost to the Boss Slayer after the Garage capture for the next set of bosses.

(1) Possible Video of Swift decimating Prometheans.

Attacking the Enemy Armory from Garage:
Spoiler: show
Assault should attempt to push the enemy armory from their Lockers via Tunnel.

First, safely transition to the Shortcut and survive. (1) Then transition across the road to their lockers; survive. (2) Attack the top of their Armory. (3) Containment (and sometimes Defense) will push up quickly to secure the cap.

(1) Transition into the shortcut and kill any enemies in the tunnel:

(2) Cross over the road and get into the enemy's Lockers:

(3) Attack the top of their Armory. Kill anyone off the top before entering and making the icon flash:

Attacking Their Armory from Our Armory:
Spoiler: show
Similar to the early game, transition safely under the rocks and push into their armory with Power Weapons.

Battle of Noctus

INITIAL GOAL: Secure Monument from below.

Start:
Spoiler: show
It is recommended for Assault to pick up Plasma Pistols or Storm Rifles off of the enemies in the Home Base.

Then push through the mancannons to our Walkway. Quickly shoot anyone you see, and then drop down to the bottom of Monument. (1) Clamber up the ramp facing away from you (2) or through the window and create crossfire with Containment. (3)

(1)
(2) Image
(3)

Clear the AI, and stick to the right side of the Monument to clean up the kills Containment started. The Monument fight may last a few spawn cycles.

After we've secured Monument, if the enemy team has not captured the right garage, lift towards it and capture it with the Backup Hog's help.

Additionally, if everyone dies at Monument in the opening push, Assault should immediately switch priorities. Spawn at home base and lift right and attack the other garage.

Attacking their Garage when we control Monument:
Spoiler: show
Attacking from Monument: Coordinate timing with Backup for this. Drop to the bottom of Monument and take the lift under the bridge towards their garage. (1) Survive first contact, trying to be sneaky, and climb onto the Balcony (2) and then get on top of the garage (3). Survive here until the Backup Hog and possibly Floater shows up to drop into their garage and finish the fight. Watch the spawns from the boxes (4).

(1) Image
(2)
(3) Image
(4)

Alternative (Best when we don't control Monument):
Spoiler: show
Spawn at home base. Coordinate with Backup so they arrive to support against spawners and lifters. Move left towards the enemy's spiral. (1) Survive and push around from their Garden to either jump into the second floor (2), or push together into the first floor (3). Clear the Garage and watch the spawns..

If we Triple Cap, Assault should continually spawn at the right Garage and push towards the enemy home base from that direction. This will keep the three bases continually staffed between squads and allow the team to pinch the enemy in their home base.

Noctus Bosses:
Spoiler: show
Assault should kill the Bosses that spawn in front of our home base. Defense will attempt to take the ones in front of the enemy home base. This seems counter to the expressed goals, but Assault will typically take weapons from the support for those Bosses and then use them to attack the enemy Garage. Defense will have help from Containment to get the Bosses in front of the enemy home base, and then back up with those weapons.
