So, I recently made this thread with various Black Ops II info, and if you read any of it Treyarch is making some very drastic changes to pretty much every aspect the game. This brings up the question... Is Black Ops II really even a Call of Duty game?
If you look at the changes they're making to the Campaign, to Zombies, and the MAYBE leaked changes they've made to the Multiplayer this honestly doesn't feel like Call of Duty at all to me. Which I personally think is great.
In my opinion Call of Duty is pretty much defined by the Modern Warfare trilogy these days. When I think Call of Duty, that's pretty much where my mind takes me. I don't think Treyarch, I don't think Zombies. Even though Treyarch has made some popular Call of Duty games I just don't go to them when I think "What is Call of Duty?"
Treyarch really started to show they wanted to be different than Infinity Ward and push what Call of Duty COULD be with Black Ops, and is continuing to push that with Black Ops II. They're making a lot of serious changes to the series that just sets them in a completely different league than Infinity Ward, and I have a lot of respect for them because of that.
Going back on topic though... Black Ops II just does not feel like Call of Duty at all to me. The campaign is being completely redone, Zombies has never felt like a real Call of Duty mode to me, and from the little they've talked about the multiplayer I'm already getting a feeling that it just is not the same. Of course I can't really confirm that last part... But if you look at how different Modern Warfare 2/2.1 are from Black Ops I'm pretty sure Black Ops II will be completely different.
So what do you think? Is Black Ops II Call of Duty?
And to follow that up, do you think it's good or bad that it does/doesn't feel like Call of Duty?
(Please try to be constructive with your responses... I've been frustrated enough lately as it is, I don't need you guys trolling me even more than usual.)
