I'm not a big fan of winter. I don't like the cold. I don't like the snow. (Well, I like watching it fall. I don't like driving in it, shoveling it, etc. Maybe if/when I have kids I'll like snow again)
I consider football to be more of a fall thing, though the playoffs and Super Bowl are in winter.
My favorite thing about winter is eagle watching. In my hometown of Burlington Iowa, if the winter is cold enough, the bald eagles will migrate down from Canada and roost in my neck of the woods.
Here's a coulple pictures taken at the riverfront in downtown Burlington from a few years back. There's 5 eagles in this picture below if you look close enough. On a great day you could see a dozen!
I'll be in town tomorrow, if I have some time I'll go down to the riverfront and see what I can see. Last year was so warm I only saw 1 on a trip to northern IA.
If eagle watching interests you this webcam is from here in Iowa and it's pretty popular. They don't know yet if the eagles are going to use this nest again this year or not.
