For me this is a tough one, but chose Asheville Pizza and Brewing Co.
Take a look at their websiteThey are one of the best breweries in the area. Its so good in fact last year Budweiser started distributing it. They are the first ones in Asheville to can their own beer, which in my opinion is the future for all major crafrt brewries. On Thusday nights they do beer infusions, my favorite of which they now always have on tap. Its there Escape Artist ESB (formely known as Houdini ESB) and they infuse it with habeneros and call it Fire Escape. Very Tastey
The location I go to used to be an old movie theatre with two screen. In one of the screening rooms they turned it into a game room with everything from air hockey to astroids... pinball to an old school NES. The other theater they still show movies in. They charge $3 for second run movies usaully about to come out on DVD. They also bring in some oldies but goodies. This week they are doing a special viewing of Fast Times at Ridgemont High... classic. They also celebrate directors birthday's by doing a whole week of their movies. Of which Tim Burton's and Quentin Terintino's are very popular. The theatre side has its own bar and they serve food in there as well. Whenever we go we try to get into the movie about 40 minutes early beacouse there normally a line where you order your food at the bar. They give you a pager then page you in the middle of the movie to come get your food. They buy there theatre chairs second hand and have tables set in front of them. You can sit down in couches or recliners too.
The main dinning room however steals my heart. The Bar has a few big screens behind it and lots of tap handles, not just there beer... one can get a Guinness here too. There regulars are present with 20 oz beer horns that they have hanging from the ceilling. Each table is designed after a spacific theme. There is everything from a James Bond table to a William Shatner table. But we always try to sit in the Star Wars booth.
This is also a local favorite to watch big soccer matches, the oscars, and tv finalies like Sienfeld. In short I think this local hagout best describes the diversity and bohemic society of Asheville. For the tourists who come to town I always try to send them here to give them a feel of what this city is really like... Good beer, Artsy Aliens, and good times.
