Where do you buy your games?

Tue Mar 08, 2016 2:04 pm

Trying to decide where I should start buying my video games.

I tend to go to Best Buy, cuz its was close and I am lazy - but I moved so I am opening myself up to new options.

Suggestions?

Digital. You can evacuate more easily and you don't need shit laying around collecting dust.

I like your NOLA thinking Sarge - I guess if I got hit by a tornado that would be beneficial to keep it all digital too

I go digital unless I find a good deal on used. Hit up your local Disc Replay style shops. Avoid Gamestop. Don't let them sell you a used game for $50 when they gave 5-10 for it. Even if the local place is at the same price to you, they usually give the seller a better deal. Everyone wins.

Liking digital more myself with games. If I really want the disc I go to target. With redcard I get 5% off and sometimes there cartwheel app will have a percentage off to. Last week I could of got Farcry Primal for 25% off. Digital seems way to go more often then not for me.

Probably best to go to a store for the discounts but if you are a really big saver probably best to wait for the online sales.

I'm 100% on the digital bandwagon. More money goes to the publishers. No clutter of game disks, or don't have to worry about loosing the disk and not being able to play. Pre-loading pre-ordered games.

Yes, I still pre-order when I know I want to play a game. Because I like preloading, and getting the extra bonuses. And because the last time the internet decided to yell and scream and convince people not to preorder a game then a lot of those people forgot/decided to then not buy the game at all. And the people who did play had issues finding other people to play with, or anyone to play against. And anyone who said "I'm thinking about buying this." was informed that "No one plays that so don't get it.".

I just bought a ticket to see a musical next week. You could say I preordered the musical. The set might break, the actors might be crummy, the production might be amazing but I might hate the show.....it's the risk I take for indulging in art. But it sounds like a show I'll enjoy, and the professionals who are putting the production on are people who've done good work in the past.

As always caveat emptor. If you want to wait to see more info/reviews/gameplay that makes sense. But if you know you want it take advantage of the system and get it.

100% agree with Oboe on this. If I'm really into something I'll support it, if I'm skeptical I won't.

I'm also on the digital bandwagon, mostly due to the fact that I've been PC gaming for the past couple of years. My computer doesn't even have an optical drive right now. I will admit that there's some novelty to having physical copies, but it's becoming more like music for me nowadays. Everything I listen to is on the internet, but I'd buy a vinyl record just to have it.

Soooo I'm the person everyone shakes their head at because I'm that guy that gets all the collectors editions of games. At least generally if I am really excited for a game or invested in the franchise I will get the collectors edition. Downside to this is they tend to all come with physical copies of the game instead of a download code which I don't understand.

I also pre order all my games and I buy all of them from GAME. This gives me a guarantee that I will always pay the lowest price. So if the price goes up mine stays at what I pre ordered it at, and if the price goes down my price goes down too. Plus if I ever feel like changing my mine about the game, I just cancel my pre order a week or so before release and this generally lets me play any Alphas or Betas that come with a pre order. Also GAME does a reward scheme where I get points based of the things I buy which is why I can afford a free game every 6 months or so.
