My biggest gripe about the game, and it would be nice if they fixed it somehow with a free DLC, is the fact that there seem to be only 2 asari faces. Peebee, and everyone else. Lexi doesn't even have her own face! Maybe there are other different-faces out there that I haven't met yet.

Also, whenever I get eaten by an eichor or whatever the big blue gorillas are, I have to reset the app to continue playing....

I just took Liam out for a butt, and seem to be getting a lot of tech combos.

I basically rely on my weapons to take down shields so that my biotics can wreck shop. I don't have to worry too much about armoured peeps. Evause my biotics are mostly armour orientates and like I said having Dracks and Vetra means they get melted for the most part.

Once I figure my favourite biotic build I'll probably respec so I have my three biotic abilities and then can start on the tech path for a tech profile.

I'm in a weird space now where I'm not really using my adept build that I invested up to rank 6 in singularity for. I've been playing as a vanguard primarily for a good bit and am not sure where I'm going with my build next.

I'm still early in the game, thanks to lack of time to play recently. I've been going down the Infiltrator spec, though the lack of being able to command my squad very much isn't making being the leader sniper as much fun as I used to have in ME.

I've also balked a bit at the sudden, in your face hard core romance options in the game. Maybe I am remembering it wrong but I seam to remember it took many conversations and a few main story quests before you could really start outright flirting with your teammates. I just had the final alien teammate join my squad and LITTERALLY my first conversation with a new being of an alien race I'd never seen till a few hours ago included the option to flirt with him.

It was, frankly, off putting.

I want to get far enough in this game to enjoy it more, or at least to go into the multiplayer and have fun with people there. But right now my time is super limited AND I just don't feel as deep of a drive to get past my pain points.

Yeah, I also found the immediately flirt options off-putting. I don't mind them being there too much, but I could never use those options so early. I waited until after the first major settlement was established to start flirting.

I still prefer Dragon Age's approach to relationships. In this game it doesn't seem to matter what you do, everyone will pretty much like you regardless

We got an update from BioWare today on the future of the game.

I'll copy-paste for those who don't want to go elsewhere.

Aaryn Flyn, General Manager BioWare wrote:
Hi everyone,

It’s been two weeks since the launch of Mass Effect™: Andromeda and we’re thankful to the millions of you who have already joined us on this journey. And though the game is now in your hands, it’s really just the beginning.

Since launch, our team has been poring over your comments and feedback, looking to discover what you like about the game, as well as areas we can evolve or improve.

This Thursday, we’ll release a new patch that addresses technical fixes (crashes, improved performance), but also adds a number of improvements we’ve heard you ask for, such as:

  • Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map
  • Increasing the inventory limits
  • Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
  • Decreasing the cost of remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants
  • Improving localized voice over lip sync
  • Fixing Ryder’s movements when running in a zig zag pattern
  • Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer
There are many more adjustments being made, all of which you can find in our patch notes.

Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:

  • More options and variety in the character creator
  • Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
  • Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations
  • Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder
  • Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams
These upcoming patches will also address performance and stability issues. And we’re looking at adding more cosmetic items to single player for free.

For multiplayer, over the same timeframe, we’re going to continue to build on the APEX missions that have been running since launch. We’ll be adding new maps, characters, and weapons. On Thursday, we kick off the first of three new chapters centered around The Remnant Investigation.

This is just a taste of what’s in store as we continue to support Mass Effect: Andromeda. And as always, you all play an important role in that. We want to hear from you about your experiences, both what you love about the game and what you’d like to see changed. We’re listening, and we’re committed to partnering with you as we continue to explore the Andromeda galaxy together.

Here’s to a great journey,

Aaryn

I'll comment and clarify on some things here based on what I know.

In the first set of bullets, improving eye movement and lip sync comprise the two biggest issues affecting facial animations across the games. The eyes create the weirdest effect.

Allowing players to skip the travel sequence is a good compromise for something that even players that absolutely love the game and BioWare are frustrated with.

For some of the stuff coming later, I'm glad they're planning to improve the character creator. I'm black (no jokes, please) but I'm of Caribbean descent. None of the black options look like the people I see in my city and in my family.

The last two bullets are about issues LGBT+ fans have been upset about. Fans of m/m romance in games are very disappointed in our options in this game. Kotaku covered this pretty well. Gay fans are pissed because m/m Ryder only has two options in this game, whereas f/f Ryder has four. Additionally, none of Scott's options are squadmates so we get very, very limited interaction with them. Reyes is a criminal and that's always been an issue with gay representation, and Gil's arc makes many fans (myself included) very uncomfortable with the baby bits with Jill. There are also wildly different levels of intimacy displayed in romance culmination scenes in the different romances. Both m/m romances fade to black after a makeout. Those of you who romanced Cora did not get a fade to black after makeout.

To hammer the point home, fans made this infographic about romance options in the entirety of the Mass Effect franchise.

As for Hainly Abrams, she is a trans woman who is one of the personnel you interact with on Eos. We know she's trans because she outs herself to us almost immediately and without prompting. Polygon talked about this in an article about Mass Effect, Zelda, and Horizon: Zero Dawn all struggled with this.

I'd highly recommend reading both articles from Kotaku and Polygon.

[RANT... but not wanting to fill up the chatbox. Enter at your own risk.]
Spoiler: show
I can't talk to Lexi, because the New Game+ actually kept all my "special items," so it skips the entire Movie quest up until her step, and talking to Liam to get the Legion movie. It's also causing a few other issues I can't explain.
I talked to EA support, and because it skips huge amounts of conversation and missions, I can either:
A. Start a NEW new game and work the 70+ hours I put into getting the 72 Ryder I have and hope that there aren't any other New Game+ bugs...
OR
B. Wait until a patch, which may never come for this issue.
I can't just go before when I started the perpetrating quest, because I deleted that save (unintentionally) in "The Great Save Wipe". Apparently, you are limited to 500 saves (Manual + Auto). The game will not auto-save past that, and you will have to clear (delete) your saves to make space for the game to even auto-save. And now, since I deleted some saves to make room, apparently those were my New Game+ saves. So my last save of my first playthrough is at 70% completion, and down 9 levels from when I completed the main campaign. I can't start a New Game+ because of those saves being deleted by me.

I'm super frustrated with this. With a new game, I will have to:
Spoiler: show
1. Level back up. I was level 72 with Ryder.
2. Complete all missions again.
3. Research all projects again.
4. Build back up gear.
5. I guess I'm just itemizing stuff because I'm sour about this.

That might be a console thing because currantly having no problems on the PC side only thing that has skipped is the Movie quest

That sounds ridiculously frustrating, Fundz. I'd check again today after the first patch comes out and see if the issues persist. I couldn't talk to Dr. Harry Carlisle after my twin woke up in my first play through.

After I met Hainly I was very confused as to why she existed in the first place... I don't mean that in a bad "we don't like yer kind 'round these parts" kind of way, just that she felt VERY forced. She didn't need to exist in that space and added nothing to the story. Points that these articles address. I'm glad they are revamping things with her, hopefully they handle it well!

How have you been respec-ing yourself bankrupt Ducke? I've only done it once, which cost me like 300 credits, and the act of reskilling everything is probably enough to prevent me from doing it again any time soon!!! Too much work for what little I actually changed.

How is everyone enjoying the patched game? I had a frozen game about 2 hours into the update...
:-/

But my FemRyder looked better I guess. They changed something about her eyes, I feel, to help with animations during cut scenes?

I didn't actually respec into bankruptcy, but it costs me 2.5k credits to do my next respec. I only respec'd when I had a clear idea of what I wasn't liking in my current build and how I wanted to change or experiment with it. I was running a Sentinel so I was playing around with both the Tech and Biotics trees to see what meshed

Nice, thats pretty much what I'm running. I've some combat specs but I really just use them for the passives. I have Pistols Maxed so I can get the most bang for my buck.

Yeah, by the end of the game I settled on Incinerate / Energy Drain / Lance. It worked almost too well.
