Robo says "Hi"

I'm not back exactly, just wanted to say hello. Out of curiosity and nostalgia for days gone by, I checked to see if the Wheelmen were still going. It's great to see that it not only lives, it looks to be thriving. Well done Brick, et al. Well done, indeed.

So, for the Old Guard:

Louie-thanks for leading at the start and driving the change in our mind-set from, "The Hogs mine and I'll kill you to get it" (see my banner), to a more, shall we say, 'team oriented' attitude. You Rule.
Larson9-thanks for the banner and your generosity to the group
Brick- well, if it weren't for you (and some others who I am, sadly, forgetting) we would never have made it past a Bungie user group. You are the rock, upon which....
DeafSmith- I know you can't hear it, but I'm clapping, slowly, in appreciation. Keep spreading the word.
Zorn-Thanks for doing such a good job cutting my grass.

And, my Gunner, Deadmeat: You were a stubborn, enemy-Hog-stealing, foulmouthed, honey badger of a HALO player. Thanks, and...you're welcome.

All you drivers: protect your gunner, cherish your gunner, pamper your gunner, know that the killing they do, or threaten, is your collective reason for existence, but remember...without you they're just some schmuck, who's all gunned up, with nowhere to go.

F**k It, Drive On!

EDIT: Fuuuu***k, Il Duce, who has one of the best handles ever, dude, I'm sorry, total brain lapse. What's up?

Whaddup?? Tons of old faces around here today. I love it. I moved to Denver, lived with Brick and Ivy for awhile. The girlfriend and I just got a place. It's going pretty damn well.

H! NIXON!

you're so old I never even knew you very well!

What's making all these people come back, suddenly?

"Old"? WTF? Wait, yeah, I am...sad face.

I recognize the name "Criporc". It's been a while and I've been hit in the head a couple times since I was last active. How are you?

Apparently DeafSmith showed up again also. I don't know why the coincidence. The stars aligned. A sign of great things to come?? We'll see. Who's next? Louie? Zorn (The Cutter of Grass)?

Hey Duce,

Very glad to hear you're doing well. Looking through some old posts, seeing some old names and remembering games and conversations on the site has made me miss the old gang. HALO is just a game but the people are real and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Wheelman family.

After all these years I've ended up about 300 yards from the house I was in around '07-'08. Still with no game-capable high speed internet. My connection is through my hotspot on my phone with data limits. The odd thing is I have neighbors I can see who have cable. Three cheers for living just outside the profitable zone for the cable company.

There's consumer grade equipment you can purchase to create a powerful line of sight wireless connection over fairly long distances. You could attempt to work out a deal with one of your neighbors to pay for part of their internet if they would be willing to let you set something like that up to piggyback their connection. Probably against the ISPs terms of use, but they wouldn't have to know. :p

Do a google search for "line of site wireless bridge" if you're interested in researching it.

Welcome to our site. Check out our calendar for events you can sign up to play, or our chatbox is always a good place to find people to play with.

Thank you very much, Jon. I'll be looking into that. Problem is that all the neighbors I know are in the same boat (farmers/ranchers). The closest folks with cable are in a neighborhood on the back side of a hill. I could get an antenna up high enough for LOS without trouble but....

When you say "fairly long distances" what do you mean? 1/2 mile or many miles? B/c that's what it would take to get to someone I'd be willing to share an address with, and who would willingly share one with me. In my youth I'd probably try to steal it but I'm too old for that scheit. Cheers.

Does anybody play 2 or 3 anymore? How's the hogging on the new versions. I think "Reach" is the last one I played. Great maps for the Hog, especially the one in the nature preserve/park.
