Ideal Player Limits: 8-16

BEST Gametype(s): CTF, assault

Supported Gametypes: Slayer, bro slayer, ctf, assault, stockpile, territories, koth

Description:

Face off is a very original BTB map combining very long lines of sight with intense close quarter combat. It supports 2 falcons and a neutral banshee. Power weapons include 2 rocket launchers, a neutral sniper and a neutral energy sword.

The central ground includes a one way teleporter hub for back access to the bases. There are several ways into and out of each base that may not be immediately obvious.

OOoo yay more BTB maps!

Is the entire map encompassed in that screenshot?j It looks like the falcons will have very hard time finding cover from teamshot

Yes it is and yes they do :D

In playtesting falcons were good for 5-10 kills assuming no rockets or banshee bombs hit them. It's generally a good idea to wait a muniute or two for the rockets to get used up before jumping in any of the vehicles. the rockets have a longer spawn time than the falcons so the falcons tend to be quite strong mid game, especially if the infantry pushed forward in support to 'discourage' the enemy from pointing their DMRs at the sky.

The banshee is the main power weapon on this map. I strongly recommend trying to capture it at the onset. If you can't capture it, blow the crap out of it before the enemy gets his filthy hands on it.... and if it does make it to the sky, get every DMR on your team popping it or else it will be on a frenzy before you know it.

Woaw, I love the design, and the originality ; the grid as an energy gate ... Really ?! That looks great, I had never seen something using a grid in a cool "aesthetic" way, so I have to congratulate you at least for that !

It was noted during multi-flag last night that sneaking in via the teleport and getting the flag down to the middle is almost too easy, and makes for a more hectic than strategic flag pull. It was suggested that perhaps the teleporters be reversed so that the receivers are in the middle and the senders are in the bases.

Other than that, the map performed very well in my opinion.

Thanks. the suggestion about the teleporters as well as one or two other pointers have been taken into account and will feature in next update.

Okay after recent playtests and feedback I have made the following changes:

-Direction of teleporters reversed to go out of bases rather than into them.
-Banshee spawn increased to 180
-Two tall structures added to central ground to provide cover for flying vehicles.
-More respawn points with cover from above and fewer respawn points without.
-Shotgun ammo reduced from 2 clips to 1 clip
-Rock placed next to seaside bunker allowing non-jet packers to acces the roof.
