Note: Since this video some changes have been made,
- There are now two ramps leading up to the flag
- Mancannons have been added in front of the flag
- KillZone barriers have been altered
- Some extra rocks have been added to give more cover
- Lights have been removed
- An extra warthog has been placed at each base

Image

Map Design Intent:
This map is designed for competitive BTB focused on vehicular combat for both ground and aerial vehicles. The map is balanced to ensure that the vehicles don't become overpowered or underpowered. The middle portion of the map features cover for the banshee to utilize so the player can hide from any DMR fire while also providing cover for players on the ground. Rocks and various other objects help break up lines of sight on the warthog.

To help with map movement there's a portal located at each base which brings both teams to mid and there's also a man cannon which resembles Valhalla located at the flag. As a result the opening rush to laser can bring back fond memories of Halo 3 as both teams struggle for laser and top mid control.

I'll like some advice with an idea I have of possibly adding a mancannon or a portal to increase map movement. I added a image so you have a better idea,

Blue line represents possible mancannon route while the green lines represent possible portal routes but only 1way. The red circle is the neutral laser spawn.

I'll probably need to test this first in Fustoms to see if it's really needed. However if this it the case I guess I already a have a solution.

If you see any other problems let me know :p

Really nice map BK. i really like the fact that out of the 2 (i think) maps you made in Halo 3 you chose to remake the one that did not get as much spotlight and personally probably my favorite one.

the map is very aesthetically pleasing as always, and i see a great resemblance to valhalla. the only problem i see is if neutral laser, falcon, shade turret, and OS spawn mid, control of the middle of the map would be utter domination with the added fact you have your own banshee plus sniper. this especially is true if there is/are no mancannons or teleporters with footsoldiers needing to walk all the way there.

Still even with the added movement. i still seeing it as overpowered. kind of equivalent to having the opposing team control hill on valhalla. jumping top mid equals death, banshee and hog neutralized by laser, sniper gets picked off and you get into probably one of the harder BTB spawn traps to recover from.

other then that (even if its a pretty long topic) i think it looks fine and gamplay wise you may just have to run some test.

Ok good feedback kobe ::thumbs::

I have portals leading from the base and to the cave side of the middle structure.
The Shade turret has been removed as it does no damage and is now a turret.
The Plasma launcher is slightly closer to the base.
Rocks have been added to the portal sender nodes so players can find a way to jump up to the base.

Anyway.
Had the first playtest on this tonight with HaloCharts and Workplace mixer and I felt it played very well with very little negative comments. The banshee battle at the start was awesome with both banshee's flying around the middle structure which serves it's purpose. The laser didn't dominate the map and wasn't really a problem. The Falcon worked well also and allowed for fire support for flag pulls.

Overall I'm very happy with this first playtest.
The only thing I might change is the banshee respawn time from 180 to 150 as it's pretty weak.

I need a banner for anyone will to make it.
Same format as the Atrium and Relic ones. Thanks ::thumbs::

Ooo, I like the map, very nice. I swear you should end up getting a map put into Matchmaking one of these days.

Also, two things...

1. With the map being so huge, the flag really is super hard to get away with. I know it's a recurring theme for BTB maps in Reach and we'll get better at it over time, but it still needs to be looked at imo. Could try to put them closer to the middle of the map, but still in the bases (and put ramps at the front), or put them closer to the teleporters. Or both?!

2. I think more elevated cover for the banshees/falcon would help make them more useful (and more fun to pilot). The falcon in particular, with its limited range. Right now there's the natural cover of the map, the showerhead thing and the base towers. Not sure how to do this without giving one side more cover than the other tho.. maybe some more showerheads? :)

overall the map looked pretty balanced and i agree with the flag thing.

that was a good way for me to see the whole map and not actually be in game.

Yes the flag is hard to get it seems. I'm considering moving the portals to possibly were the health pack spawns or down were sniper spawns. Then I'll have the flag spawn in the center of the base so it's easier to take the flag through the portal.

I could try adding mancannons in front of the flag which could be intresting. Would give it a more Valhalla type feel.

As for more vertical cover it will use up more resources and trying to get the showerheads to look good is hard :[
