I'm sure many of you expected me to say that, so I'm going to humor you and explain why I think so.

I have always liked dynamic gametypes in Halo that required more teamwork than just sitting back and shooting at people. I think Dominion ahs all the things that made Invasion fun without all of the things that turned others off to Invasion, particularly loadouts, vehicles, and one-sided objectives.

Unlike Invasion, Dominion allows you to control which weapons you use when you want to use them. Additionally, there are vehicles always present. Some of them you can only use after you control a base until fortification, but the hoggers no longer have to wait for tier 2 of a specific round to use a Warthog. Lastly, there's the two-sided nature of Dominion. You don't have an odd set of offensive and defensive weapons and vehicles. There is constant activity fighting over objectives. Additionally, everyone has a visible waypoint and isn't attached at the hip to one of their companions anymore.

I am having a blast with this gametype. There's enough BTB-esque qualities to it that I could see it being a very playable option for BTB fans when we have 6 players or less.

I totally agree, this gametype is alot of fun.

Awesome. I'll need to get some games in with you guys when I get back home. I always enjoy objective-based games more than slayer, probably because I'm not crack shot like some players. Sounds like an adventure waiting to happen. I call the big guns!

There do seem to be a lot of power weapons...

I'll admit I didn't care much for Invasion but I do love Dominion now. I'm happy to have an objective game type that I think is fun haha :P

I have to respectably disagree on this one sarge, while it is a very fun and dynamic game variant; I feel that it lacks the linear map progression, which made invasion feel plausible and got players immersed into the actual battlefield. Following this point, Invasion also had a story going with it through the mutiple phases v.i.a dialouge from the elite field marshall and unsc general. Gamplay wise it is the currently the closest thing we have to an incarnation, I will concede this. However i must disagree with any notion of it becoming invasion 2.0, as it is currently dubbed dominion a spin off if nothing more, grr

It was not meant as a literal successor to Invasion, just as Guardian is not a literal successor to Lockout. However, there are many aspects of Invasion present in Dominion. You cite story, but the entire multiplayer is set as a training ground for Spartans on the Infinity. There goes your story right there. In its similarities, Dominion and Invasion are both dynamic objectives that require teams to focus on multiple points of control at once to achieve victory.

In a more Sarge-specific point of view, this is a gametype that I very much enjoy and would love to devote my time and energy into becoming good at. In that regard, it is the new Invasion for me.

I agree. While confusing at first, Dominion is the shiz-nit. My favorite gametype. I enjoy the base camping while the rest of the team goes for the middle base.
