The one thing I dislike is the design of the faceplate. I'm hoping for a better vehicle health system as the one in Reach isn't great and not many people understand how it actually works.

I completely agree. The health system kind of turned me off of 'hoggin' in Reach. I also feel the sniper rifle should not be the vehicle killer it is at present. Halo 3 had a "rock, paper, scissors" setup with vehicles, the sniper, and infantry (working together or with non-sniper weapons) which was abandoned in the more recent game.

One thing I can state unambiguously is that more emphasis has been put on larger MP maps to support Vehicle combat. Including adjustments to stop vehicles being torn apart by breezes and harsh language.

Some new War Games footage is now available from the Rooster Teeth Expo. It's on Longbow and includes some Warthog action. Admittedly, the driving is mediocre and the gunning really isn't great, but it's more than we've seen thus far. Links below.

It looks like the 'hog gun still overheats, but it might take a bit longer. It's hard to tell how much damage it does, as the gunner doesn't land that many shots.
