HWM vs. SIK

Sun Dec 19, 2010 10:14 pm

So, earlier tonight we ran into a group of guys with SIK tags. Our party of 5 played their party of 6. We played them on Spire and we won 3-2.

Game Link

According to BK, these guys recognized who we were before the game started. I did some researching on these guys, and apparently SIK Crazy is #1 on HC for Invasion General Halo Charts Score (GHCS), and the rest of these guys were 5-star generals in Halo 3. Many of these guys also had BTB 4-stars or higher in Halo 3.

We start off on defense, and I will tell you plainly that these guys knew how to time their pushes on offense. They always attacked at the same time, which allowed others to flank because they messed up our lanes of fire. Off the break, they all pushed Alpha. We managed to keep them out, but they kept three guys alive in the pipes for a long time. During this period, two of their guys jumped on top of the Bravo cave and managed to take out me and BK on the Bravo side of things. Their guys in junkyard tied up our middle guys while 4+ Spartans pushed into Bravo to take Tier 1.

During Tier 2, we managed to hold them off for most of the tier, but their sniper kept our numbers down, and a rocket guy managed to lock down Bravo side with the help of their sniper late in the tier to push on to tier 3. At Tier 3, despite having our Banshee, they threw the core off in the worst place possible and it landed in our crater spawn. We chose not to return the core, and they chose to run multiple vehicles and not push for the objective. After a rough round, we hold them to just 2 points.

On our offensive round, we manage to capitalize on their uncoordinated, aggressive slaying to capture territories on them. Black Knight and I spawned on the cliff side and managed to win most of our fights on that side. They pushed us aggressively into the cave, and after winning a few fights, we managed to get 4 Spartans into Bravo and capture Tier 1.

During the early stages of Tier 2, they did an excellent job keeping us off the Spire, but we pushed our BFG and Ridge Road team with rockets and snipers over the BFG Trail, and with some solid sniping from Black Knight, managed to capture Bravo. I lifted up immediately at Tier 3 (shotgunning one of them in the head on the way up)and got to the core before any of the Elites could stop me. I tossed the core off in a good spot. Black Knight managed to steal their Banshee from them, and with some Banshee and Falcon cover, we managed to successfully capture the core.

After the game, I heard a few jokes in the lobby like "Is HWM a 49 and under clan?" but I said good game and they backed out. All-in-all I am very impressed with the way we played in a tough match. We kept our cool throughout the entire game, despite the fact that we spent parts of it getting rolled over. We executed our strategies well, and despite having a random, scored the core when they didn't.

Thus, Halo 3 rank means nothing anymore. Four brig gens, another brig, and a random Major (by halo 3 ranks) beat a team of 5-stars who all had BTB 4-star or 5-star playlist generals.

Go HWM!!!

They were less impressive as individuals but more impressive in slayer coordination. We never ran into just one or two, it was almost always half the team showing up in one area. This broke down when they tried to run vehicles in Tier 3 as only their Banshee pilot was decent (and even then we were able to plasma pistol and take him out) and when spread out more we could kill them 1v1.

If there are 2 things to learn from this game it's this:

1. It doesn't matter how well you kill if you can't defend the objective.

2. Teamfire always wins.

Also, another reason to run team and party. ::thumbs::

Lets not get too cocky now. There aren't many teams that consistently run Invasion to have real strategies. But I am glad that we finally gave that CRY5IS guy a good rough up in that game where his team of 5 was screaming at each other the whole game.

Rank never mattered in Halo 3 BTB. A team of strike commanders and force colonels could definitely hold their own against generals as long as they new how to control the map and could teamshoot.

I'd have to disagree. If you are talking in terms of 50's that didn't know btb vs strike comms n force colonels who did know btb then yes, but 50's who KNOW how to play btb ran over teams of 40 and under who knew how to play. Simply put the 50's had much better br's and callouts which led to them having map control, which in turn allowed flag caps/spawn traps = victory.

So yes, rank mattered to me in halo 3 btb.

Also props to you guys for runnin over SIK, played one of the kids on the team and he was good. Takin on a team of them is pretty impressive.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Was it more or less challenging than this game (if you remember it)? I don't have a lot of experience playing high-tier teams, and from that game the playlist gets a whole lot more fun when playing competent teams.

Anyways, great job demonstrating (yet again) how the HWM Invasion guide is a masterpiece!

I would say it was more challenging than the game you posted, Pepsi, only because we were less aware of the map back then. I mean, we managed to skunk those guys in the game you played.

True. Maybe it was the fact I went so negative is why I thought it was so much of a challenge. ::oops::

And I'm starting to remember the conversation we all had afterwards, something like:
"In their eyes, they won the game because they went more positive. They weren't trying to go for the objective."

Nice work guys ::bump::

Rank never mattered to much to me in any halo game, however i measured people on their win percentage or exp/how many games they had...

I know those tryhards. I was booted out of their party for showstopping their stat padding spree by capturing the last flag in BTB lol.

Anyways nice job, those people know their stuff and not many ever get to beat them.
