Icebird has completed Halo 2. It certainly would have been more fun to do as a co-op but it was still very enjoyable.
Immediately upon putting the disk in it took me back about 9 or 10 years. I couldn't bring myself to start the campaign right away so I wandered around a few of the Halo 2 maps. It's a little bit of a shock seeing Headlong and Ivory Tower in their H2 form - strange how you kinda remember playing Halo 2 with those maps in their Halo Reach form. The SOUNDS of the maps take me back too... the machines on Ascension & etc.
I'll admit, I couldn't play more than the 1st mission on Heroic, though heroic was the plan from the start. The checkpoints were too long and the different control setup was too frustrating for me. I figured since I'm playing it to enjoy it I'd go with normal; which still proved to be a bit challenging for me. I did miss the team shooting and the Lol's that go with the party.
I did enjoy the campaign though it is one of the weaker campaigns in the series. That said, there are a few missions that remain all time favorites. Delta Halo & Regret are probably my favorite (I consider it 1 - there was no clear break between the 2) Halo mission of all time. The plot of the campaign is really great and even though playing as the Arbiter is a little lame it's cool to get some of the Covenant story that you wouldn't know otherwise. (I want to know more about the Grunt Rebellion!) The Arbiter missions do mix up the play styles a bit for variety, I found myself using the camo to cover reloads and retreats quite a bit.
Master Chief and Sargeant Johnson are more badass - perhaps at their best ever. I found myself using the Covenant Carbine and the Brute Shot quite a bit.
Not sure what else to say really. But I am
really hoping to see a Halo 2 Anniversary.I am REALLY looking forward to our Halo 3 playthrough. We're starting ODST on Monday, at least that's the plan.
