Invasion Strategies

Mon Dec 20, 2010 11:27 pm

Hello everyone. EmbodyingEarth here. I just wanted to share my invasion strategies with you all.

SPIRE

Offense

Phase 1:
As soon as the phase starts everyone rush the right territory. Remember only one person has to stay in the territory. Everyone else protect him/her. If rush is unsuccessful 4 people rush the left and 2 rush right. The ones on the right shouldn't try to take the territory but rather to keep as many as possible busy. If both territoreis are both low. Stay with the 4 and 2 strategy.

Phase 2:
Eveyone except sniper get armour lock. 1 person go for rockets, 1 for sniper and 1 for shotgun. 1 person should stay between the shotgun and sniper spawn to help out if either are attacked. The other 2 should rush the right territory. Once the shotgun has spawned both the shotgun weilder and the guy who was staying between sniper and shotgun should go attack the right territory. The sniper should watch out for elites on spire and their spawn points.

Phase 3:
Whoever is near or in the territory go up the lift right away. One person takes the core and jumps off the spire while others(if any nearby) try to delay any elites trying to stop the core carrier. At least 2 people should get in the falcon and provide fire support. The falcon driver can also go over the core to hot-drop his spawn partner over the core. The falcon should also watchout for the banshee. Whoever is going for the core should either have operator or the class with drop shield. Also as a final note, if a lot of elites are attacking the core from a distance the falcon should not be afraid to get in front of those shots. The objective is more important than your life.(no offense)

I will add more at another time.

Glad to see you posting Invasion strats, Earth. If you're interested in seeing the strategies we've written, you can click the map guides tab at the top of this page and see what we have for Tier 1 on Boneyard and Spire. If you accept our Code of Conduct, and apply to the Good Gamers Group (by going to your User Control Panel), you can see the rest of our strategies in the War Room.

I understand your strats, and they're pretty logical.

For Tier 1, I don't think you should rush all Spartans in one direction. You yourself stated that you need to split up the Elites' attention so that the side with more people on it could actually get away with a capture. If all of you go in one direction, all the elites just need to focus on one side. By going with the 4-2 plan, you constantly keep the Elites off-balance by forcing them to deal with attacks on both sides.

For Tier 2, I don't suggest people take armor lock unless they are close to the Spire or spawning on the Spire. I think it's the best loadout to use on the Spire itself, but it doesn't give you any effective way to move quickly to the Spire, or defend yourself against the Elites with Needle Rifles. You need Sprint to get to the Spire quickly, and you need the DMR to pick them off the Spire on your way over there.

For Tier 3, the Falcon can try to spawn guys near the core, but the Falcon needs to keep moving, lest it die. The Falcon has to keep moving to fight the banshee and dodge the plasma launcher. Anyone spawning off the Falcon should take the jetpack loadout. I agree that the Falcon should not be afraid of Elite team fire. The Falcon itself will not go down to needle rifle fire quickly at all, nor focus rifle fire. Only the gunners need fear them if they are being shot directly.

Nice stuff. You've got a solid handle on Invasion and have said a lot of awesome things. I really hope you apply to the good gamers group so you can see the rest of the strategies we have on the site.

For tier 1 the purpose of the rush is to throw tthem off guard. Usually people have a 3 on each side defense so if everyone rushes on side, they will be caught off guard.

For tier 2 armour lock is a lot of help on the spire. You can survive grenade spams and even if elites are up there shooting at you, you can armour lock in the territory and take a few more seconds off.

Spire

Defense
Tier 1:
When you Spawn I would Recommend the Warrior Class, evade is very helpful and having the pistol can be a life saver. When you spawn stay on the side you start on, If you spawn center you go back and forth between the two to give fire support. Teams should Pick up the Needler Rifle as it is the only counter to the magnum. The second member should take the Plasma Cannons mounted around their spawn, This weapon can shred shields and armor and is much more effective than the Repeater. Remember holding your ground is crucial, Alpha Defenders should Never go to Bravo unless every spartan is rushing it and even then only one should go. Allowing yourself to abandon Alpha is just asking for trouble. If done well you should skunk your foes most of the Time.

Tier 2:
If you happen to lose your ground on the first area, quickly fall back to defensive positions. Don't wait for the sniper, don't Try to steal their Hog. 1-2 people should go for shotgun. If you respawn you will mostly likely want the Zealot Class with the Neelder Rifle or the class with cloak. Now if you can afford to, try to have one of your soldiers flank around either by the Conveyor Belt or the BFG Trail to take out their sniper and steal the Rocket Launcher. Once retrieved the Best place for it would be on top of the spire looking down in to the Objective. Since there is a gap In the shield wall and you can fire down into it or throw grenades and they will never see it coming. If necessary you should pick up the Focus Rifle to suppress the Sniper.

Tier 3:
If you lose your position at the spire's base, most of you will need to immediately head up to the Spire, with the Gladiator and Champion Class. Since the Sword Dominates at the Top of the two main lifts, and the Concussion Rifle can knock foes who try to take the three auxiliary lifts. and is highly effective against Shotgun weilders. Two of you should wait by the Banshee spawn, to ensure your team can take it, if necessary, to destroy it if a Spartan gets too close. If the Banshee gets up successfully then the second person will grab the Fuel Rod Cannon that spawns nearby and head up to the top of the Spire, further augmenting the force of Concussion Rifle there. If the Banshee is shot down and the enemy Falcon is Up, when the Pilot respawns he needs to take the Plasma Launcher and bring it down, it takes 3 Nades to kill a Falcon so use 4 to be safe. If the Spartans get the Core to the Ground Level, it is vital that you have the Banshee to suppress the Sniper and Falcon. at this point the Sword is useless so spawn as Sentry for the Drop Shield and Champion for the Concussion Rifle, when a sentry kills the carrier with his Needle Rifle immediately drop your shield on it. with two or three Sentries this should make a infinite shield. The Champions will use their Concussion Rifle to counter the enemy Hog that might rush in. The Fuel Rod Cannon can fill this role too. Always have at least one Gladiator on top fo the Spire with a Focus Rifle to give long range support and close quarters if the core is reset.

Invasion: Boneyard Offense and Defense

Tier 1: Offense
Have the majority of your Forces push to the Right Side Armed with With both Assassin and Warrior for Diversity. While the two Fire Teams move up slowly in Crouch as to not give their Positions away, the Other Fire team will Flank Left to Hit them from behind one must have a Needle Rifle. Once ALL Teams are In position only then will you attack. Push In hard and Fast but watch out for Ambushes that usually happen on Doorways, so peek around the corner and check it, if you see a foe just Stick him. Now while the Main force hits their Target the Two Flankers will try to Pick off a Few Foes and Start the Timer on the Secondary Objective. This will Cause their Forces to Split. During the Chaos the Spartans will Likely Just Spam Grenades at the Hills. Fortunately you will only have one Soldier in a Hill at any time, The other will Hang back and give fire support to Kill or Injure any Spartans that might Attack. Also if you are in the Hill watch your Motion Sensor and Use your Grenades to Hold them off for a Few Seconds or to Flat out Kill the Impatient. Depending on the Level of Skill and Cohesion of your team and the Opponents Team. This will Either be Extremely Difficult or Supremely Easy.

Tier 1: Defense
While Similar to the Spire Plan you do not have the Luxury of Heavy Machine Gun Turrets. Instead you must Use Ambush Tactics, If you Spawn Left you Sit behind the Doors to Quickly take out your Invading Foes and if you spawn Right, a Similar tactic if you can get on top of the Scaffolding. Again the Middle Team will Assist as Necessary, But will also Act as marksmen Using the DMR to Pick off Elites that are Caught in the Open for Too Long. Given the Lay out of the Ship it is Really Easy to Funnel your foe into Choke Points and Hold them back. As a Side note, NEVER EVER Jump down into the Elites Spawn. This Puts you too Far away to Aid if the Hill gets attacked.

Tier 2: Offense
As soon as the First Area is unlocked, Push Forward as fast as Possible. If Necessary take the Focus Rifle to take out enemy Snipers or wraith Busters. Also as soon as Possible you should bring up the Wraith Tank, This will allow you to Suppress the Enemy In their Vehicle Spawn and with Focus Rifle support you should not need to worry about Rockets or Lasers. Since it is the easiest to cover the Majority of your Attack Group should focus on the Hill that is outside the Base. This Allows the Focus Rifle and the Wraith to Cover from Most angles and lets you Concentrate your Fire down the Hallway. 2 elites should go to the hole in the roof. One will keep rushing the territory while the other partner stays up there as a spawn buddy and fire support. Also watch out as the spartans may catch on and attack the spawn buddy.

Tier 2: Defense
When Pushed back, Do not waste any time Spawn Killing the Elites, Just leave and Hurry to your Base, Unfortunately the Heavy Weapons and Sniper is Very Hard to Judge when it will finally Spawn. They May Spawn Instantly and they May take a while, Until they Spawn you need to Cover the Exposed Hill on the outside with Armor lock and DMRs. Once the Weapons spawn take the Sniper to Deal with Enemy Focus Rifles and People trying to Cross map with Needle Rifles. The Laser should accompany the Sniper to take out the Wraith Tank. Rockets will be Used to Clear out Objective Points that get Clogged up. If you do take the Hog, Which you should one the Wraith is Eliminated. Stay close to your Objectives, don't go to the Covie Vehicle Drop, Drive in front of your base and Call out for your Gunner. Sniper do not be afraid to Pick off Enemies on the Spawn.

Tier 3: Offense
Once you manage to Crack the Case you Must Move in Quickly and Try to Grab it before the Spartans can set up with their Operator Classes. The Wraith should be waiting outside to give support. If you Fail to Get the Core immediately. Regroup and use a Combination of the Champion and Gladiator Class. the Gladiators should Drop in from above and Concentrate fire on Nearby Spartans to Eliminate the Threat, Once this is Done the Gladiators will Charge in for the Core, One of the Glads will Grab the Core and with support from the Others he will head out, the Champions at this time will have to Give support to stop any Spartans from Pursuing. At this time the Wraith will either have to Support the Core by Eliminating Spartans as they Spawn in the Junkyard or Take out their Tank as it Emerges from its hole. Since the Wraith can Arch it's shots it can Hit the Scorpion from a Concealed Location and not Expose itself. Once the Tank is Eliminated the Wraith will have to continue to Bombard the enemy Base to Keep the Sniper down. After the Core is taken out side, Spawn as either the Champion, the Ranger, or the Royal Zealot. The Champion will help Clear enemies off of the Core if it is Dropped, the Ranger will allow you to Move Quickly to the Core, and the Zealot will give you long Range Precision with the Needle Rifle, also you could use the Focus Rifle to the same Effect. Once you manage to Beat back the Spartans Attempt to Retrieve the Core the Wraith will have to act as a Big Shield and Cover the Carrier, while the Zealots Pick of those who get past. Rangers should stay a Bit back from the Carrier in case he Dies they can Jet Pack in and Secure it again. Also Remember to always have someone Watching for the tank either to Ambush it when it comes out, or to hit it with the Wraith or Plasma Launcher. This should allow you to Dominate your Foes quickly.

Tier 3: Defense
When the core is Cracked you must Fall back. Most of you will need to Hold inside the Structure with Shotguns or DMRs firing down from the Armory. One Person will Snipe from the 3rd Floor of the Refinery. One Person will take the Tank immediately. his Job will be to Kill the Banshee or the Wraith, and to Pick of as Many Elites on the Ground as he Can. The More he Kills the Easier the Job of the Defenders inside will be. If the Core is taken out side, Use the Medic, Marksman and Operator Class, this will allow you to Deploy a Shield to Defend the Core, and allow you to Defend against Sword Elites who might Rush you, the DMR Marksman is just for Good Measure to Pick of Elite's Shields from a Distance. If you are Truly Desperate Try to Park the Tank on the Core. so if you are Destroyed they have no Access to it. Also Stealing the Enemy Banshee is not Required. It is nice to have the Support, but it takes away from your most likely Strained forces of Defense.

Good stuff, I can tell you put alot of work and time into these. Once/if you join the orange group, you will be able to access our War Room, where we write all of our strategies and guides. We do have standing map guides covering all tiers both offense and defense for Invasion Spire and Invasion Boneyard. Once you read them, you can post about what you liked, didn't like, or how you would do it differently. Looking forward to seeing your input ::thumbs::
If you think we're a rolling double kill.. come get it.

Now that you're orange....

You can get there by going to the Board Index. It should appear underneath the Halo 3 forum.

Or....you could just click on my forum signature. (That would be the awesome image at the bottom of this post that says "The War Room")
