xICEBIRDx's High Five

Hey Haut! I like your High Five threads a lot, great idea! Here's mine!

Muse - Hysteria
http://muse.mu/media-player/singles/23/hysteria/

Quite possibly my favorite song at the moment. When I was in college a roomate got me hooked on Muse, I've been listening to them for a few years. But recently I just can't hardly stop listening to them at all. This song is epic! Can't freaking wait to see Muse next month!!! ::panic:: I'd give my left testicle to see them live at Wembly in London this year.

Switchfoot - Mess of Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et1vriu29Qk

Funny thing about Switchfoot for me... I've been listening to them pretty much ever since they put their first album out. When I heard their 2nd album I decided I didn't like them, at all! Anyway, they grew up a lot and their last few albums are amazing.

Red - Death of Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiLwrFI5Fv8

I absolutely LOVE Red. Their last album, Innocence & Instinct, is my favorite album from 2009. I haven't seen them live yet, but I hope to sometime in the near future. I'm hoping that Guitar Hero or Rock Band picks up a song or two from these guys soon...

Demon Hunter - Fading Away
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXktCbZzh8E

When I was a teenager a friend of mine loaned me a metal cd and I wasn't really that into it.... Then my mom griped at me about it and I kept playing it to bug her and I got hooked on metal. Demon Hunter is my favorite metal band now and they have been for a few years. I like how they blend the melodies into their music.

Five Iron Frenzy - Every New Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFIMOJ46ofk

So, this was my favorite band in college. I love this band for their sense of humor. The first time I saw them live (they night I became a fan) they were at the Cornerstone Festival in IL. They filled a piniata with pork & beans and threw it into the crowd.

This song (not one of their humorous songs) is one of my all time favorites, if not my all time #1. I went to 3 shows on their farewell tour in '03. (R.I.P. FIF)

Just a little bit of a disclaimer... This is a Christian song with a Christian message to it. I am not posting this to try to indoctrinate anyone, I'm posting it because I love the song. If you're not interested in hearing it, just don't listen to it.

Muse - Hysteria
Never been a big fan of muse, the guys whining voice puts me off, cheer up you’ve got some kick ass songs and your mer mer meeer ruins them.Great musicans as well such a shame could be so much better with one easy change.

Your bollocks are probably not worth much as a resale product, but if you need somewhere to kip we have a few members with sofas in london you should contact.

Switchfoot - Mess of Me
Solid and well produced rock song, different enough to not be generic , I like this and will be checking out their albums

Red - the death of me
Decent metal song about heartbreak, like these guys love the front mans beard!
I will listen to this later on on my sound system to get more from the base.

Demon hunter - fading away
Punky metal nice!
You have a thing for bearded baldies? Watch out Zer0! ::ahh::
I can hear all the shouty lyrics which is nice, id say almost a metal foo fighters.

Five Iron Frenzy - Every New Day
I love Five Iron Frenzy and find it sweet that you guys still have religion over the pond, pop punk ska, good song a little preachy at the end, but basically about a guys impending crisis of faith and you gotta sing about something.
If you like this then you have to check out My evil plan to save the world! best five iron frenzy song!

If your interested in ska from first wave through till now speak to our resident ska expert Brickie poo who will be sending us his High Five soon.

About Muse... I totally get that a lot of people might not be into the falsetto but I think that's one thing that really makes them stand out. I think Matt Bellamy is a musical prodigy. If you haven't heard much of Muse check out the song 'New Born', it's one of my favs and it showcases Matt's multi-talent.

About Switchfoot... If you're going to check out Switchfoot's albums just about anything they've done from The Beautiful Letdown on is good, though my personal favorite album of theirs is Nothing is Sound. Overall favorite song.... that's a really tough choice. Probably The Blues or The Setting Sun off of NIS.

About Red... I think they have better songs than that, I picked it because the video is great and I figured it'd be a good introduction for someone who hasn't heard of them before. My personal favorite is on their latest album Ordinary World (A Duran Duran cover... absolutely beautiful and better than the original)

Nice to find a couple of other Demon Hunter fans on H3WM! Their newest song that they posted on MySpace the other day is really cool. I'm looking forward to their new album next month. I've been listening to Summer of Darkness a lot lately, and I'm wondering if maybe it's my favorite album of theirs. (Maybe when we've run out of High Five's to post I'll post a Metal High Five?) I think my fav. DH song is Beauty Through The Eyes Of A Predator.

In my High Five I told you about the piniatas that Five Iron gifted the fans at the Cornerstone Festival. At their final CStone show in '03 they did it again and I was there for that too. I found it on YouTube when I was searching for music to share with you guys. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5srT9wcKE9o

I already shared my fav. FIF song, a couple other great ones: Where The 0 Meets The 15, At Least I'm Not Like All Those Other Old Guys, Blue Comb '78, and Dandelions.

I was going to put a Project 86 song in my High Five but I decided not to because I used one of their songs in my montage. I posted it in the Video Gallery a couple days ago, check it out!

Sorry for late reply, been on night duty

Muse – Hysteria
I share your love of Muse and yes Wembley would be awesome. Good choice in song - bring back some of the old stuff. Still prefer Stockholm syndrome though

Switchfoot – Mess of me
I'm liking this one Icebird, as Haut said its got enough difference to not be generic rock. Its not as aggressive as a lot fo stuff so it doesnt make you feel angry :-x

Red – Death of Me
Nice manliner ::lol::
But seriously not a bad song slowly getting more hardcore as we go down the list

Demon Hunter – Fading Away
Don't get me wrong, metal = good but i just find some gets a bit samey. I like bands that have some unique sound to them

Five Iron Frenzy – Every New Day
Skankin time, YAY SKA - no more horns needed!

Not a bad selection Icebird. All 5 songs have been ones that i dont cringe at when i hear them and some I've.

I like Stockholm Syndrome too, I picked Hysteria because it's my fav. Muse song and I thought it would be a good introduction to Muse for someone who hasn't heard them.

I am going to see them in Chicago next month... My reason for wanting to see them at Wembly is because I love the HARRP DVD. They went all out in that show and the crowd (probably double the size of the crowd I'll be in) was insane. I bet it would be a blast. I'd have to win the lottery to go though..... Or hope Muse is still around in about 10 years...

I wrote a review/blog about the Muse show. If you care to read it you can read it here. It's on my facebook page, I set it to be viewable by everyone so you don't need to friend me.

A very thorough write up xICEBIRDx ::thumbs::
Shame you didnt get standing tickets though as its always more fun down in the pit at gigs like this
I especially liked this quote "It's like listening to classical music on a spaceship" it made me ::lol::
If i were there i would have also liked them to play some of their older songs as i find most the older muse stuff is different and in my opinion better than their newer tracks
Sounds like you had a decent unforgettable day though, only thing is whenever you think of it you'll always remember the chewing gum guy ::FP:: ::lol::

I LOVE muse, so I think this is my favourite high 5 so far! Of the other songs, they were all ok. The Red one was quite good but there were parts of it that I didn't like.
