That is entirely up to you, Lars. For now the worlds are mostly self contained and the little references won't mean much to you yet.

Whether you stay with the Stormlight Archive or go to Mistborn is largely up to you, they don't have any major crossovers. The Stormlight books are massive so if you want a change of pace Mistborn would definitely switch things up

It's done! This means Oathbringer is currently longer than Words of Radiance, which Brandon said was almost too big for the way Tor binds their books. With that in mind, Brandon my have to trim the content and probably shrink the font for this book.

We got the State of the Sanderson 2016 today.

For those new to the Cosmere, at the end of the year around his birthday (Dec 19), Brandon will give us a reflection of what he wrote this year and give us the plan for the next few years. It's an interesting read if you care about Brandon's own perception of his work and how he approaches it.

For those interested in just the release schedule, here you go:

Projected Release Schedule
I’m going to keep this to three years this time, as my projections in the past have tended to go skiwampus (technical term) after about one year of projecting.

I intend Rithmatist 2 and Alcatraz 6 to slip in here somewhere, but I don’t know where. (I was hoping to do one of them this year, but Stormlight three went even longer than projected.)

February 2017: Snapshot
November 2017: Stormlight 3
Spring 2018: Apocalypse Guard 1
Fall 2018: Wax and Wayne 4 (final book)
Sometime 2019: Apocalypse Guard 2
Sometime 2019: Undecided. (There will likely be a second novel this year. It’s possible that I’m still working on Stormlight 4 though, and will have a lean year as a result.)
Sometime 2020: Stormlight 4
Sometime 2020: Apocalypse Guard 3 (final book)

Conclusion
Next year will be a little quiet, following this year’s releases. (Which included Secret History, The Bands of Mourning, Calamity, White Sand, Alcatraz, and Edgedancer/Arcanum Unbounded.) Right now it’s just Snapshot and Oathbringer. (Which might give you a glimpse into how much work a Stormlight book is. The new one is longer than all of the above stories combined, and then some.)

I finished "The way of Kings" just today and I'm amazed by it. opening a world to the reader so original like I haven't read before. Not just with the Flora and Fauna but with the different "tribes" of people and their behaviour, roles of male and female, their religions (even though here I could see sililarities to existing ones) and the way they live. The big Mysterium about the spren, the soulcasting, the Highstorms and the Voidbringers. Alot of questions and loose strings were answered and tied together in like the last 50 pages which doesn't leave the reader with a need for (alot) answers when finishing the book.
The whole concept of Soulcasting was fascinating, I mean there was a whole chart in the end with explanation and all. Brandon sanderson sure thought his stuff through. I also like the whole explanation and concept of Lashing while using stormlight as instead just saying "they can fly duh".
I really enjoyed the character developement and the detail he put to everyone of them.
I'm eager to see how the War on the Shattered Plains continues , If they reveal the true nature of the Parshendi,if szeth ever gets some rest and what his further role will be and if he will finally abandon that thruthless thing and stop obeying . I also looking forward to hopefully learn more about thunderclasts and Midnight essences.
It seems I will read Words of Radiance next before checking out the Mistborn series or the single books BUT for now I will let the impressions of the book sink in further while relaxing and reading "ready player one" maybe also "the Parfume" ( the first few sites and describtions seemed promising) . Then I'm read to keep going.
I really hope my not-so-readingfriendly friend will start to read the book and get caught in it's amazingness too.

Sadly I couldn't pic up Words of Radiance from my uncles library but I got Elantris which is ine too. Didn't want to start another series with Mistborn. Also weird to see how in the german version they split The way of Kings into 2 books just as thick as the original but a bit bigger and bigger font and more space between paragraphs.

Instead of just 5 books for GOT there are like 9 ...
