I heard her last one was a bit twisted and morbid.

It was, but I thought it was interesting. It was a creepily specific look into the minds of some really messed up characters.

well, long time no post here.
I'm reading Dune right now... in german :D. The title is "The Desertplanet" and I think this is one of the more fitting titles after their translation :D

I'm reading "Red Country" by Joe Abercrombie.

Abercrombie writes pretty dark fantasy. But its good.

I read Dune a couple of years ago. Don't remember much, but I do remember some of their fights. With their shields and daggers and stuff. Cool idea.

I've never read any of the Diskworld series by Terry Prattchet, so I'm thinking of picking up a book or two for all of my flights in May. No time for reading right now, but that's the plan for THE FUTURE!

Well, this Thread has slept long enough now.

Did you? if so,what? I love his Books, my Uncle has everyone of them, so everytime I feel like reading one I can just go over to him a take one :) .

While I'm on it, my Uncle gave me a good bunch of classic and favorites of him, I think I will update this post with a picture of them soo. With the correct english titles and authors for them of course ;). I also bought myself som books when I was in Denver for the Hogrally, the "Old tattered cover- Bookstore" is amazing.

Since my last post here I read quite some stuff.
The Foundation Trilogy- Isaac Asimov (As I got told one of the Pioneers in Science Fiction writing, book is from the early 70's)
Death by Videogame- ... (a more psychological aproach to why we are so invested and addicte to videogames that we endure such feats like extrem long sessions without eating or drinking. instincts like survival, exploring, competing and that alike getting mentioned)
Game of Thrones- George R.R. Martin , reading the series in English and the first Book took me a while, read several other books in between lol but I finally manged to finish it and started the second on Saturday.

Have you watched the shows at all Lars? Ive finished all five books and they were excellent reads. I browse the asoiaf subreddit and the things ive missed through my reads are astounding. Excellently written series in my opinion.

I'm reading "The Expanse" series right now by James S. A. Corey. Its a science fiction thingy, which is very good. I love it and would recommend it to everyone.

I'm on book 3 of 4 at the moment. First book is called Leviathan Wakes, if anyone's interested.

Lars, I have read the foundation series as well. I found it really interesting how different the worlds were between the books. In the first one, there were basically only male characters, but since the next book was written quite a while later (if I remember correctly) there were actually women in key roles, doing stuff alongside the men. Its nice to know that our world is moving in the right direction, even though sometimes it feels like its not.

For Monster: I've read the ASOIAF books and watched the shows. They were good, but in my onion there are way better fantasy books out there. If you are brave enough, look up "The Malazan Book of the Fallen" series. It's a huge undertaking, but totally worth it. Hands down my favourite books of all time. Right now i'm trying to get through all the books on my to-read list, so I can go back and re-read those. There are 10 books in that series, each about 1000 pages. And Stephen Erikson, the author, wrote them in 10 years. He must be a genius of some kind. Reading these books started changing my dreams very noticeably. At around book 5 or 6, my dreams became like movies. They had soundtracks, well developed characters, an exciting plot, great action, emotional moments, everything! I loved it.

I did actually! After some research a friend lent me The Colour of Magic. I was a bit put off by a lot of the pun humor, overall it was good but it just didn't catch me.

Recently I just finished Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, thanks to adverts on Critical Role and recommendations from Sarge. Really enjoyed it, bought the other two books in the trilogy and will get started on them soon.

We should discuss this immediately.

I'm very curious to hear your thoughts.

Colour of Magic was also the first I read and it seems to be seen as one of the best books to start whne reading Terry Pratchett.
I still have Brandon sanderson- The way of Kings laying around, haven't read it so far :/. Also bought because I read good stuff about it here on the forums from Sarge and Pilot

I am currently on the latest book in the series Babylon's Ashes and I'm right there with you, I can't get enough of this. Not really a spoiler but I love how the writing crew places the story in a timeframe that we can fully wrap our heads around. For example, low/no gravity and G forces in space is a major talking point throughout the series.

Also, I just finished "The First Law" trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. I needed a break from Sci-fi while waiting for the next Expanse book to come out and what a refreshing read it was. It's easy to follow and Joe does a fantastic job with his prose writing style. I totally recommend it if you're in the mood for some fantasy.

I love Joe Abercrombie! Read almost all his books, and plan on rereading them whenever I get the chance.

Is it legal for me to talk about the Syfy series here on this thread? I don't know if it merits it's own thread exactly. I will hold off from any spoilers but wow...color me impressed with how Syfy is handling this series! I am blown away by the production value in the series thus far and most of the actor choices for the characters. For those of you who have yet to read any of these or watch the series I strongly recommend. This weekend I binged the second season and watched 7 episodes straight. I am on the latest book and nearing the end of it so I'm far past where the tv series but very pleased with how they are pacing it all out. I REALLY hope this gets enough attention so Syfy is able to keep the series going. I think I'm so stoked for the tv series because I'm always skeptical of a good book series being molded for television. When I heard about them adapting these books into a tv series I gave a big sigh. I didn't expect anything other than disappointment and possibly a bit of rot added for me to the future books. I am incredibly pleased to say I am wrong. What are your thoughts wheelmen? Criporc?

I've watched most of the first season, butt stopped for some reason. I didn't like how belters were pretty much regular human looking, and how there was barely any zero G stuff. There is a lot of Zero G stuff in the books. Maybe there's more later on in the show... Another thing that bugged me was Amos' casting. That guy doesn't look like a killer. He looks too much like an actor.

I'm not saying I didn't like the show. And probably I would have watched the whole thing if it was on Netflix. I'm just too lazy to obtain it by other means.
