As far as scotch goes I find you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good tasting bottle. Balvenie is one of my favorites to sell. It's a young 10 year single malt (though they do have 15 years and up) with a smooth flavor.
nice one solo, ive had balvinie before but not recently, if its on offer in a supermarket i will endevour to get some and review it, unless you could do it!
Ive got to give it to you guys, you've put up quite the list.
We just post it as we drink it
thanks Rowe love ya
its gonna be tricky from now on, as im getting a new flat and will be super poor for a while, so wont be able to get new whiskys for you guys to read about me trying lolol
A subtle, complex clean nose, with Vanilla and spice, a delicate floral notes of roses, plus lime and cocoa beans. Medium in body, it offers a palate of fresh fruit, spices, eucalyptus, and ginger cake. The finish feature more spices, fresh oak with a hint of smoke, and a final flash of peach cheesecake.
I got the spice and the vanilla, definitely the cocoa (although initially combined with the vanilla tastes of coconut) ginger cake flavour is palatable and same with the peach at the end no cheese cake tho.
kinda got a menthol feel which is billed as Eucalyptus.....nice whisky.
Of all the bourbon's I have had, I always go with Maker's Mark personally. I am always sure to have a bottle when guests come over. I have bottles of both cheaper and much more expensive, and Maker's is always the first to get emptied... even without my help.
So we broke from the norm and had something different - Armagnac (wine distilled into eau de vie [French for "water of life" or in other words, moonshine]) then this is placed in oak barrels for 10-12 years).
Vieil Armagnac XO (xtra ordinary) from the Chateau du Tariquet
It has a beautiful amalgamation of flavours of wood, vanilla and buttered toast
Its important to serve in a brandy glass so you can warm the Armagnac up in your hand (see above)
