Net support

Sun Jun 12, 2011 9:32 am

ok. i have the old xbox 360 (like most people) and i do not wish to purchase a wireless adapter for it to be able to play in my living room, as my router is in my room. I was looking for a repeater that was cheaper than the adapter and would also boost my signal more so i had a better connection during multiplayer. i found this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SQ9ZX2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

and was wondering if you all would recommend this or something different. thank you!

Get a long network cable.

I if I can avoid it will never have a wireless step in my gaming network.

if i were to put a long ethernet cable, i would have to go under the house, drill 2 more holes in the floor, and staple the thing to the support beams.... lol. i have already done this for my other computer on the opposite end of the house. huge pain in the but. if i do what i am planning, do u think it would be THAT much slower than straight wired thru the router?

If you absolutely cant run a cable then that would be ok. Just make sure youre actually using N instead of G.

dlan plugs are the best of both worlds

runs over the power in you house

devolo are the market leader, but the tech has been out long enough now that even cheap knockoffs are pretty good

be certain your on the same power ring main(not sure if americans use the same system of wiring)

ok.... so i have decided that price doesnt matter and getting an xbox adapter is a waste. so i am to either just get this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SQ9ZX2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

or i could also get this in addition to that if absolutely needed :
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AZ01EO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2JUPN4BTA3CZV
wonder whats gonna happen when i move out and my parents are stuck with all this internet equipment they have no idea how to work...... LOL
would it really make a huge difference in getting the cisco-linksys N router in place of my belkin g wireless?

Definitely get an N router. With the N adapter for the Xbox you should get a 150mb connection. This is faster than the wired port on the xbox since its not gigabit but I still seem to get better performance out of the wired connection.
